Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion Division

Star Assessment: 4.5 star
ASSESSMENT:
• The Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion Division (CDPHPD) website is a child site within the DOH site. It is designed within the DOH template but has it’s own brand, colors, illustration/graphics, type style. This Division has a very clear brand, consistently applied across all programs that fall under it. The CDPHPD layout is clean, modern and incorporates graphical Hawaiian plants that are cultrually important/medicinal and relevant to the program and who it serves. The colors, plant illustrations and type selection are warm and comforting—very appropriate when encouraging behavioral change for a healthy lifestyle and discussing sensitive medical issues such as cancer/asthma/diabetes/heart disease/physical activity & nutrition/tobacco.
• There is a clear hierarchy in the typography. The template clearly defines main headers, display type in color boxes, secondary headers/titles, body copy, bold and italic body styles and bullet points for easy readability.
• The site incorporates approporiate imagery throughout the site to keep the viewer engaged. Similar photo styles/templates are used in both the branded Strategic Reports/Plans and website. Graphic boxes clearly define the various branches of CDPHPD and programs are color coded so the viewer can easily associate where they are in the site and within the division.
• The secondary navigation is visible and easy to navigate.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Photos/graphic elements could change to keep things fresh for return viewers. It tells them you are actively updating your site and keeping things current.
